A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School (2nd yr.& 3 yr. Acting)

Jenny Stephens

Performances take place at the Tobacco Factory, BS3 1TF

This award winning musical comedy is Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart’s bawdy tale of Pseudolus, set to the music and lyrics of the fantastic Stephen Sondheim.

Pseudolus, “the lyingest, cheatingest, sloppiest slave in all of Rome” attempts to win his freedom by helping his master woo the girl next door. But in the ensuing mayhem, will he succeed? Directed by the Theatre School's new Artistic Director, Jenny Stephens and inspired by the comedies of Plautus, this is an irreverent romp filled with slapstick humour, mistaken identities, zany characters and the infectious energy of classic vaudeville.

“A show that has strong claims to being the funniest musical every written” The Guardian (on A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum)

Originally produced on Broadway by Harold Prince, this production is presented by arrangement with Josef Weinburger Ltd on behalf of Music Theatre International of New York.
