Spotlight Self-Tape

The seamless way to manage, upload and share self-tapes, all from your Spotlight account.

Gone are the days of wrestling with bulky file transfers, expiring links, and the anxiety of “Did they receive it?” Spotlight Self-Tape replaces cluttered emails and lost attachments with a streamlined, professional solution. Now, casting directors can send self-tape requests and performers and agents can upload tapes directly through their Spotlight account.

What is Spotlight Self-Tape?

Spotlight Self-Tape is an essential digital tool designed to bridge the gap between a performer’s living room and the casting director’s office.

Built directly into the Spotlight platform, it allows performers or their agents to receive self-tape requests directly from casting directors. Self-tapes can then be uploaded to Spotlight, allowing casting directors to manage, view, and share submissions – all within one secure ecosystem. Furthermore, it works seamlessly with our agency solution, Tagmin.

By centralising the process, Spotlight eliminates the need for complicated Dropbox or WeTransfer file transfers. Our new feature ensures every self-tape is seamlessly attached to a performer’s profile, granting instant access to their credits, headshots and professional information.

My agent has asked me to submit a Spotlight Self-Tape, how do I do this?

Your agent should email the self-tape request to you. Within it you’ll find all of the information needed to record your video. Once you’ve recorded your tape and are ready to upload it, check out our handy step-by-step guide for performers.

I'm a performer, how do I accept a Spotlight Self-Tape request?

To get the information to your clients within the Spotlight platform, you need to use the ‘Send to Client’ feature. This generates a secure, unique link for each actor.

On Tagmin, if you don’t want to approve the self-tape first and you’d prefer your client to send the tape directly to the casting director, select ‘Yes’ under the ‘Skip Tape Approval’ on the self-tape booking form.

I'm an agent, how do I forward the Spotlight Self-Tape request to my clients when I want them to upload the tape themselves?

To forward the requests to your clients so they can submit their tape(s) directly to the casting professional, open the request in your Spotlight account and select ‘Send to Client’. This will generate a secure upload link for each actor, including the instructions written by the casting team.
