Spotlight Self-Tape Guide for Represented Performers

Manage self-tape uploads from your Spotlight account with Spotlight Self-Tape. 

This guide is for performers who are represented by an agent. If you’re self-represented, please use the Spotlight Self-Tape guide for self-represented performers instead as the process is slightly different. 

With Spotlight Self-Tape, casting directors can send requests to performers and agents instantly. As a performer, you can now manage your video uploads directly within your Spotlight account. 

Your agent will be notified of any self-tape requests in their Spotlight account and via email. They can then decide if they’d like you to send the self-tape video to them so they can upload it on your behalf, or they can request that you upload the video directly in Spotlight yourself. If your agent would like you to upload the video, you can use this step-by-step guide to help.

How to Upload a Self-Tape in Spotlight

Your agent will send the self-tape request to you which contains all the information needed to record your video. 

  1. Read the instructions sent to you by the casting director and then record your self-tape.
  2. Sign into your Spotlight account.
  3. Click ‘Self-Tape requests’ in the left-hand navigation.
  4. Click on the request.
  5. Click the ‘SUBMIT SELF TAPE’ button
  6. Upload your self-tape video by clicking the ‘Click to select file or drag here’ text link.
  7. Review the video uploaded to confirm it’s the correct one. Once you’ve submitted a self-tape to the casting professional, you can’t edit or delete the video. 
  8. Once you’re ready to send your self-tape, click the ‘SUBMIT’ button. 
  9. You’ll receive a second prompt asking if you’re sure you want to submit your video. Click ‘SUBMIT MEDIA’ to proceed or you can click ‘CANCEL’ to go back.

Casting directors will contact your agent if they’d like to take you further in the casting process.

Spotlight’s Self-Tape feature accepts the following file formats:

  • MP4
  • MOV
  • WEBM
  • MKV
  • AVI
  • MPEG
  • WMV
  • 3GP
  • 3G2
