What made you want to be an actor?
I remember watching Tamara Lawrence as ‘Viola’ at The National Theatre when I was in college, and I fell in love with the character all over again. It was such a beautiful portrayal of one of my favourite characters, and her storytelling was such a joy to watch. This performance made me want to continue acting and to audition for drama schools.
What kind of actor do you aspire to be?
I love the work of Michaela Cole and I find her career progression so inspiring. I really hope to create and continue to have autonomy over my work in a similar way to Michaela. Creating work that explores so many topics in such an interesting way is definitely a path I’d love to follow.
What films, shows or books are currently inspiring you?
I’m currently reading Sunburn by Chloe Michelle Howarth and I would love to see how this could potentially be translated to screen. I’ve always wanted to be in a queer coming-of-age story and would have loved to have seen more of these growing up. I’ve also just finished watching Things You Should Have Done by Lucia Keskin on BBC iPlayer. I find this style of sitcom and TV so intriguing and would love to explore this world.
What would be your dream role?
One of my dream roles would have to be ‘Viola’. I’ve seen so many productions of Twelfth Night and I would love to delve into the character journey that ‘Viola’ explores. Shakespeare’s work has always fascinated me and has always been a source of comfort to me.
