‘Mr Loverman’ and ‘Mr Bates vs The Post Office’ celebrate their BAFTA success with two wins each.

The BAFTA Television Awards 2025 have now been awarded at the Royal Festival Hall on London’s Southbank, hosted by Scottish actor, comedian and national treasure Alan Cumming.

This year’s ceremony was packed full of witty comedy, thanks to Cumming’s seamless hosting skills, powerful and poignant speeches, and exciting live music performances from Tom Grennan and Jessie J.

Amongst the regular awards we were treated to a selection of special recognition awards, including:

P&O Cruises Memorable Moment, presented by actor Joseph Fiennes:

  • Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell waltz to ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ (Strictly Come Dancing) – WINNER
  • ‘The’ carriage scene where Colin admits his true feelings for Penelope (Bridgerton)
  • Smithy’s Wedding: Mick Stands Up (Gavin & Stacey: The Finale)

The broadcaster was awarded this special recognition in light of the groundbreaking success of their limited series, Mr Bates vs. The Post Office. ITV commissioned this gripping drama series, which tells the heartbreaking story of the subpostmasters of Britain who have been victims of the Horizon IT scandal since 1999, and continue to fight today. It stars Spotlight member Toby Jones as ‘Sir Alan Bates’, the man who started the social group that brought the public eye to the scandal as it unfolded. Supporting cast includes Spotlight members Monica Dolan, Julie Hesmondhalgh and Will Mellor.

BAFTA Fellowship: Kirsty Wark – WINNER

This year’s BAFTA Fellowship award went to political journalist, Newsnight host and female rights activist, Kirsty Wark.
