We’re excited to launch our first version of Self-Tape requests on the Spotlight platform. We’re initially rolling out this functionality to a select group of casting directors in a beta phase. This allows us to gather feedback and ensure a smooth, reliable experience for everyone.
Please see a step by step guide and accompanying videos below.
Self-Represented Performers:
- If you receive a self-tape request, you will be notified by email. You can also access your tape requests by going to your Jobs Feed and clicking on ‘Tape Requests’.
- Click on your new self-tape request to view all information about what is needed for your tape, including the breakdown, casting director details, due date, description, and any attachments like sides or image references.
- Respond to the request by either accepting or declining. Write a message to the casting director if you decline, explaining your reason.
- Upon accepting, the status will change to ‘awaiting submission’.
- To submit a self-tape, click on ‘Submit self tapes’ and upload your file.
File formats accepted:
- MP4
- MOV
- WEBM
- MKV
- AVI
- MPEG
- WMV
- 3GP
- 3G2
- Save your progress, review the self-tape to confirm it’s the correct one, and then submit.
- Once submitted to the casting professional, you cannot edit or delete the media. If the video has the status ‘Processing’, please don’t worry, it has been successfully submitted, it may just take a bit of time to process internally.
- If the casting director is interested in taking you further in the casting process, they will contact you via email.
Performers Represented by Agencies:
- Agents will receive a tape request notification in their account.
- They can choose to submit the tape themselves or have you upload it directly.
- If the agent wants you to upload, they will send the request to you with relevant information (you would receive an email notification and the request would appear in your Spotlight account).
- You can upload your tape directly by clicking on the request.
- Casting directors will contact your agent if interested in taking you further in the casting process.
- If you and your agency use Tagmin, you may be asked to upload the tape on Tagmin. This syncs up with the Spotlight platform.
Young Performers:
- The process for Young Performers is similar to that for represented performers.
- Parents/Guardians with Young Performer accounts for their children cannot view breakdowns on the website.
- If an agent has sent you a request to submit a self tape, you will be able to click on the link on the email notification you receive to upload your tape.
- Casting directors will be in touch with the agent for any follow-ups.
If you have any questions or issues, check out our Help Centre, you can also contact us there by clicking on ‘Submit a Request’ in the top right corner. If you’ve used the self tape feature and would like to provide any feedback, please kindly let us know here!
