‘Sinners’, Michael B. Jordan and Jessie Buckley among other top winners at the Academy Awards 2026.

The winners of the 98th Academy Awards have been crowned at a ceremony at the Dolby Theatre, marking a monumental night for cinema that saw both long-awaited triumphs and groundbreaking firsts.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another won the most awards of the night, securing six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn and Best Adapted Screenplay. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein both walked away with an impressive four awards each.

The acting awards brought some of the most emotional moments of the ceremony. Michael B. Jordan took home Best Actor for his powerhouse performance in Sinners, while Spotlight member Jessie Buckley was named Best Actress for her soul-stirring role in Hamnet

However, the evening’s most historic milestone belonged to Cassandra Kulukundis, who became the first-ever recipient of the Achievement in Casting award for One Battle After Another. In her acceptance speech, Kulukundis dedicated her award to all the casting directors who “never got a chance to get up here, who didn’t even get a chance to get their name on the movie.”
