The summer heat has officially arrived, and with it, a wave of cinematic entertainment with dark comedy-drama Savage House, a return to Eternia in Masters of the Universe and the nostalgic return of Toy Story 5 all hitting the big screen. Meanwhile, our living rooms are equally packed with drama as House of the Dragon wings its way back onto Sky Atlantic and NOW and Rivals continues its roll out on Disney+. 

But while we sit back and enjoy the fruits of past labours, the entertainment industry across the UK and Ireland isn’t resting on its laurels. Behind the scenes, tireless production crews, visionary directors, and top-tier casting offices are actively building the next generation of must-watch stories. From the rugged coastlines of Ireland to state-of-the-art soundstages in Wales and the bustling streets of London, cameras are rolling on projects that will shape our screens for seasons to come. ‘Unspeakable’

Psychological horror film, Unspeakable, tells the story of a young mother as she struggles to adapt to life with a newborn. Exhausted and isolated, ‘Lil’ has to battle against an ancient creature that prays upon struggling mothers. 

The film is part of WestEnd’s WeLove brand, dedicated to female-driven stories and championing female talent.

‘The Man Who Stole Portugal’

Set in the 1920’s The Man Who Stole Portugal follows ‘Alves Reis’ (Nelson-Joyce) who travels to Lisbon with his wife and children in an attempt to better their lives. But when life gets hard, Reis bluffs his way to the top in one of the biggest cons in history putting everything they’ve worked for on the line. 

Filming locations: UK, Portugal and South Africa.

‘Lluest’ [Working title]

Lluest – Welsh for ‘shelter’ – is a Western set in 1780 Wales, which tells the story of a woman who is left to protect her isolated home from bandits and religious zealots. The film, produced by Cardiff-based Severn Screen, is shot in the Welsh language and is the first feature greenlit under the Sinema Cymru initiative.  

Filming locations: Great Point Studios in Cardiff and on location in South East Wales

‘Bare’

Bare is a coming-of-age survival story based on Lorna Tucker’s memoir about ‘Sophie’, a young runaway on the streets of London. and what happens when she finds her chosen family.

The film is being made in collaboration with Under One Sky and The Connection at St Martin’s, two charities working to support homelessness.

‘Only Murders in the Building’

The sixth season of Only Murder’s in the Building sees the trio of true crime obsessives switch New York for London to investigate the mysterious demise of rival podcaster ‘Cinda Canning’ (Tiny Fey).
