From ‘Wednesday’ (Season 3) to Guy Ritchie’s latest film, take a look at the productions filming across the UK and Ireland in April.

Now that awards season is behind us, we look forward to what the rest of the year has in store. Blockbuster season is right around the corner and there’s a huge variety of TV shows coming our way. 

Whilst we enjoy the onslaught of entertainment at our finger tips, we’ve done a deep dive into what’s in production in April 2026 for the future.

‘Wednesday’ (Season 3)

The hugely popular Netflix series, based on the original stories of The Addams Family and from the artistic mind of Tim Burton, returns for its third season. Wednesday has a star-studded cast, including Jenna Ortega as ‘Wednesday’, Spotlight member Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán as her parents ‘Morticia’ and ‘Gomez’, and Isaac Ordonez as her younger brother ‘Pugsley’. Joining the cast for its third season are Tim Burton regulars Eva Green and Spotlight member Helena Bonham Carter.

Season 2 saw Wednesday in her second year at Nevermore Academy as she followed the trail of a mysterious stalker. The packed season ended with Wednesday riding off into the darkness with her Uncle Fester to track down her missing friend, Enid, who faces the fate of an alpha werewolf.

Wednesday (Season 3) is currently filming in various locations in Ireland, and is expected to release in 2027.

‘Hillside Drive’

Dublin born filmmaker Lenny Abrahamson is back with his next feature project Hillside Drive. Abrahamson’s previous work includes Oscar winning Room (2015) and the global sensation Normal People (2020), which pushed Spotlight members Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones into the limelight. 

Hillside Drive is a coming of age film set in the Jewish community of Dublin in the 1970s, told through the eyes of 12 year old Davey, who navigates being a teenager at such a pinnacle time in Ireland’s capital city. The cast includes Spotlight member Tom Burke and Eve Hewson as Davey’s parents, whose marriage is a key focus of the film. 

This exciting new Irish drama is currently filming in Dublin and Wicklow for the next few months with no release date currently confirmed.

‘Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol’

The timeless Dickens classic is getting yet another adaptation, this time from horror filmmaker Ti West, whose previous works include X (2022), Pearl (2022) and MaXXXine (2025). 

This darker take on the well-known tale of the haunted man who must travel through his life’s mistakes on Christmas Eve will see Hollywood star Johnny Depp in the title role of ‘Ebenezer Scrooge’. Depp will be joined by Spotlight members Sam Claflin, Sir Ian McKellen, Andrea Riseborough and Rupert Grint. 

Currently shooting in various locations around London that suit the desired Dickensian style, Ebenezer is expected to release on 13 November 2026 in time for the festive season.

‘Viva la Madness’

British filmmaker Guy Ritchie is back with his latest action adventure film. Viva la Madness stars resident hard man Jason Statham and other big screen favourites including Spoltight members Jason Isaacs and Jonny Lee Miller, Ben Foster and Vinnie Jones.

The film tells the story of a man whose difficult past is haunting him as he lies low in the Caribbean, waiting until the dangers of his previous job are no longer a threat and he can return to London.

Viva la Madness is currently filming in London before heading out to the Caribbean for the rest of the shoot. Although no release date is currently confirmed, it’s likely to be in cinemas in late 2026/early 2027.

‘Luther’

Idris Elba returns as ‘Detective John Luther’ in the new feature-length installment of the hugely popular franchise. Whilst trying to solve the mystery of a series of seemingly random deaths across London, Luther must also avoid the target that’s on his back. 

Directed by Jamie Payne, whose other work includes great television shows such as Outlander, Invasion and The Alienist, Luther is currently filming around London and is expected to release on Netflix next Spring.

  • Highlander Henry Cavill and Russell Crowe star in the remake of the 1986 film, currently shooting on location in Scotland.
