The CIISA Standards aim to prevent bullying and harassment and promote safe and inclusive working environments in the UK’s creative industries.
The Creative Industries Independent Standards Authority (CIISA) have now officially launched the CIISA Standards – a framework designed to set out the minimum standards of behaviour across the UK’s creative industries.
This cements CIISA’s mission to uphold and improve standards of behaviour across the creative industries and prevent and tackle all forms of bullying and harassment, including that of a discriminatory nature.
The Standards aim to illustrate what a safe and inclusive working environment looks like, and can be scaled to any size of organisation, production or project.
Spotlight is proud to be a founding supporter of CIISA, which was initially set up in 2021 following a number of serious allegations relating to the creative industries. We endorse their vision of a safe and inclusive industry with pro-active interventions and advice, and a single place of accountability where behaviours of concern can be reported and investigated.
In their first iteration, CIISA supports the film, TV, theatre and music industries by providing:
- Services – such as mediation, early dispute resolution, immediate advice, support navigating the criminal justice system and investigations.
- Data and insight – from their data and cross-sector expertise.
- Influence – by working with expert partners on issues such as advocating for preventing the misuse of NDAs, better advice and protections for freelancers, and promoting inclusivity, such as wider adoption of the Anti-Racism Code.
- Support navigating the criminal justice system – if CIISA recommends further action, they will give professional support to individuals who are taking their concerns to the police or through the criminal justice system.
