The Spotlight Prize 2025 Finalist

What made you want to be an actor?
I joined a drama club when I was in primary school, run by the late Marcus D’Amico. I immediately fell in love with the endless characters I could become. Acting enabled me to put aside my own insecurities and embody someone else. Despite this being the reason why I initially enjoyed acting, Marcus’ contagious passion for drama and his unwavering belief in me is why I stayed and ultimately decided to pursue this as a career.
Who in the industry would you like to work with?
There are so many people who inspire me and who I would love to work with, one being Michaela Coel. Not only is her acting captivating, but the work she has written and directed herself is equally entertaining and thought-provoking.
Additionally, I watched The Effect at the National and was immediately obsessed with Jamie Lloyd. I really love how the minimalistic contemporary aesthetic accompanies the drama unfolding. Also, Greta Gerwig. I, of course, love her work, and she also seems to create a really safe and fun environment for everyone on set.
What films, shows or books are currently inspiring you?
This is definitely not a current release, but I recently read it for the first time: Animal Farm. The way this book uses something so abstract and absurd to reflect real life events was incredibly compelling.
Something that was a bit more recent, which equally inspired me, was the film All We Imagine as Light. This does the opposite of what Animal Farm does – it depicts life just as it is. I thought both the performances and cinematography were equally beautiful. A story about women written by women.
What would be your dream role?
As of right now, along with probably everyone ever, I would love to play ‘Tessa’ in Prima Facie. It’s clearly a challenging role, for numerous reasons, but also one of the most captivating performances I’ve ever seen. To be able to do that myself would be a dream.
Additionally, I have always been in love with the character of ‘Rizzo’ in Grease and dream of being able to play her one day.
