What made you want to be an actor?

Looking back to my childhood, I recall when a friend came over for a play date and demanded that we do something – anything else! – other than pretending to be in The Lord of the Rings or Pirates of the Caribbean, like we had every other single other time. Something was clearly going on! I cannot really remember ever wanting to do anything else. By my tragic year 4 group LAMDA show, ending in hysterical laughter over forgotten lines, my parents were well aware of where I wanted to go.

Films, TV and theatre have shaped me to be the person I am today. I’ve always been inspired by the reach and impact that this industry has on the world. Being able to explore what makes people tick and having the freedom to transform into someone else is what brings me the most joy and makes me feel the most alive.

However, what truly motivates me to be an actor is having the opportunity to provide comfort, relatability, inspiration, catharsis or any outlet to someone I will never know. To be able to provide to others what this industry has given to me whilst growing up is the most important purpose.

Who in the industry would you like to work with?

In a dream scenario, I would have loved to have the opportunity to work with actors such as Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Helen McCory before they tragically passed. Both are prime examples of actors that give themselves completely to their work, no matter the size or importance of the role. Whenever we see them, they always stand out and are deeply compelling and memorable.
Currently it would be amazing to work with Martin McDonagh. Extremely naturalistic dialogue has always awed me, ever since I read my first Harold Pinter play, and the drama and humour in his work always has me hungry for more. I would love to dive deep into one of his characters.

What films, shows or books are currently inspiring you?

I have recently read Bryan Cranston’s Autobiography, A Life in Parts. I found it incredibly comforting and inspiring listening to him recount the chaos and unpredictability of his life before the world knew him.

What would be your dream role?

My dream role would be one that challenges an audience’s moral views whilst keeping them hooked into caring and empathising with the character. There’s an engaging and emotive relationship with such characters that you can’t help but root for. A character as iconic as the ones from Snowfall, Breaking Bad or Peaky Blinders, with an arc of severe change (and potentially a poetic downfall!) would be a joy to play.
