Find out the latest updates and changes we’re working on to make your Spotlight experience even better

As part of our dedication to supporting you as you use Spotlight, we continually work to improve Spotlight.com and how you can use it. If you’d like to keep updated with the changes we’re making then check this page regularly as it’s where we post the latest updates.

Here are the latest updates we’ve made to Spotlight:

New Voice Facets

Date: 21 May 2024

Spotlight has now launched a single ‘Voice Types’ field, which has replaced the ‘Voice Type’ and ‘Voice Character’ fields that we previously had. We have also updated some of the language and terminology used to reflect changes in the wider industry.

As we continue to have more casting professionals casting for voice over roles, we hope this change will make it easier for them to find the right voice for the job.

Whatever your clients currently had on their profile will have been moved over to the new field, but it’s a good idea to ask them to check their Spotlight profile to ensure the right type is selected.

Mark Role as Cast

Date: 24 April 2024

With our new tool, ‘Mark Role as Cast, casting professionals can now instantly show agents and self-represented performers when a role has been filled. This new feature is all about saving time, maintaining clear communication, and keeping everyone in the loop with real-time updates.

Ethnicity or Heritage Filter Now Available

Date: 22 March 2024

Our latest Performer Search filter, Ethnicity or Heritage, is now live, making it easier for casting professionals to find performers that match specific cultural requirements for their projects.

As well as using the filter in Performer Search, they can also filter their submissions by this profile feature. If a performer has added this to their profile and chosen to hide this on their public profile, they will still appear in specific searches conducted by casting professionals.

As we get all of our members used to this new update, we recommend using both the new ‘Ethnicity or Heritage’ filter and the ‘Appearance’ field to ensure performers appear in relevant searches.

How does it work?

  • Sign in to your Spotlight account
  • Click on the ‘Talent Scout’ option
  • You’ll now see a list of self-represented performers who have identified that they are seeking representation
  • Click on the ‘Contact form’ to get in touch with them directly.

Geo-Targeted Breakdowns – Casting Locally

Date: 28 June 2023

We have introduced a new “Local Hire” flag to breakdowns so you can more easily see when a production is casting locally. If a Casting Director has selected this option then a production location will need to be specified. If the local hire flag is selected, then a client location filter will be auto-applied on your ‘suggest clients’ page to give you a snapshot of the clients who fit the brief. This filter can easily be removed by clicking the ‘x’ to reveal the rest of your clients. Casting directors will also be able to specify what type of audition they will be holding: Online, Self-Tape, or In-Person. This will give you a better idea of who can realistically make it to the in-person castings based on their location.
