Casting Directors including Nina Gold, Martin Ware and Bernard Telsey win awards for ‘Wicked’, ‘A Complete Unknown’, ‘Emilia Pérez’, ‘Conclave’, ‘Slow Horses’ and ‘Baby Reindeer’.
Last night (12 February), the Casting Society’s Artios Awards, presented by Spotlight, took place with glittering ceremonies in London, New York and Los Angeles. The Artios Awards honours the year’s best casting work in film, theatre, commercials and unscripted programming, with the casting community and members of the entertainment industry gathering to celebrate casting directors across the globe and their contribution to the excellent work we see on screen and stage.
Casting Director Nina Gold won the Television Drama Series award for Slow Horses and went on to pick up another two Artios Awards, alongside casting director Martin Ware, for Baby Reindeer in the Limited Series award and Conclave in the Studio or Independent Feature Drama award, with gongs also going to location casting directors Francesco Vedovati and Barbara Giordani.
Wicked won the Big Budget Feature: Comedy award with the casting team Bernard Telsey, Tiffany Little Canfield, Ryan Bernard Tymensky and Tamsyn Manson being honoured for their work. In the Big Budget Feature: Drama category, Yesi Ramirez, Rori Bergman, Karlee Fomalont and Kate Sprance won for their work on A Complete Unknown.
Two new categories were presented at this year’s Artios Awards. Carla Hool and Associate Casting Director Susan Putman won the International Feature Film award for Emilia Pérez and Olivia Scott-Webb and Constance Demontoy took home the International Television Series award for Monsieur Spade.

In London, The Capelier-Shaw Award for Excellence in Casting was awarded to Juliette Ménager. In her acceptance speech, Juliette said, “Casting is more than about finding a person for the role. It goes on long after the credits roll. It has something to do with my soul.” She continues, “We shine a light on artists who might otherwise go unseen.”
