Nominations for the British Independent Film Awards 2024 were announced today, Tuesday 5 November, with comedy Kneecap leading the way with 14 nods.
The British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) celebrates excellence in independently funded British filmmaking, champions new talent and is a chance for indie films to be showcased to a wider audience. This year 29 British films are recognised, with Rich Peppiatt’s comedy Kneecap leading the charge with 14 nominations.
Previous BIFA winner, Rose Glass, returns with romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding, which receives 12 nominations, including a second Best Director nod for Glass. There are also multiple nominations for films The Outrun, Bird, Unicorns and Becoming a Guinea Fowl.
Spotlight members Radhika Apte, Susan Chardy and Marianne Jean-Baptiste are all recognised in the Best Lead Performance category, with Elliot Page, Saoirse Ronan and Alicia Vikander also being nominated for their starring roles.
In other performance categories, we’re delighted to see nominations for Spotlight members Michele Austin, Barry Keoghan, Jack O’Connell, Hayley Squires, Joseph Quinn, Saura Lightfoot Leon, Jason Patel, Ben Hardy, Nykiya Adams, Susan Chardy Ruaridh Mollica and Jason Patel.
In the Best Casting category, casting directors and Spotlight members Heather Basten, Isabella Odoffin, Lucy Pardee, Carla Stronge and Mary Vernieu are all nominated, alongside Lindsay Graham Ahanonu.
The winners will be announced at the BIFA ceremony, taking place in London’s The Roundhouse on Sunday 8 December.
