The BIFA 2024 winners have been announced with ‘Kneecap’ winning seven awards including Best British Independent Film, Best Joint Lead Performance and Best Casting.

The Awards took place on 8 December at the Roundhouse in Camden, London, and were hosted by actor and comedian Peter Serafinowicz.

Kneecap was the major winner of the night, taking home seven awards including Best British Independent Film and Best Joint Lead Performance for Liam Óg Ó Hannaidh, Naoise Ó Cairealláin and JJ Ó Dochartaigh who star in the Irish comedy as themselves. The film’s director, Rich Peppiatt, accepted the award commenting, “There’s an irony in the best British film being Irish.”

Spotlight sponsored the Best Casting category, alongside the Casting Society, and we’re delighted to congratulate Spotlight member Carla Stronge for winning the award for her work on Kneecap.

Congratulations also goes to Spotlight member Marianne Jean-Baptiste, who won Best Lead Performance for her role in Hard Truths – a drama film written and directed by Mike Leigh. And also to Franz Rogowski, who won Best Supporting Performance for their role in Andrea Arnold’s Bird.
