Summer 2025 is in full swing, and so is the film and television industry. From the new season of The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power to the grand finale of the Netflix favourite, Heartstopper, there’s something for everyone currently filming up and down the country this July.
‘Heartstopper’

Back in 2022, Alice Oseman’s award-winning graphic novel was adapted by Netflix and took the world by storm. Telling the story of ‘Nick’ and ‘Charlie’, who find themselves unexpectedly falling in love whilst at high school, the series follows them and their close group of friends as they navigate the struggles of identity in modern day Britain.
Heartstopper stars Spotlight members Joe Locke and Kit Connor in the lead roles, with William Gao, and Spotlight members Yasmin Finney and Tobie Donovan supporting, and Wash Westmoreland directing.
This touching, emotional series is coming to an end with a feature length grand finale, set to release in 2026.
‘Chasing Millions’

Set at Christmas in Belfast 2004, six years into the Northern Ireland Peace Protest, a local detective and an Australian police officer investigate the biggest heist robbery in UK/Irish history.
Directed by Stephen Burke, this dark, comedy-drama is currently filming in Dublin and Dundalk for the next couple of months.
Chasing Millions stars Spotlight member Christopher Eccleston and Madeleine Madden, and doesn’t currently have a release date, although it’s expected in 2026.
‘Incidents Around the House’

Academy Award-winner Jessica Chastain stars in Incidents Around the House, the screen adaptation of the 2024 horror novel of the same name by Josh Malerman. The story centres around a young girl overwhelmed by her parents’ unhappy marriage, who’s visited by a haunting entity that she calls her ‘Other Mummy’.
Currently filming in Dublin for the next few months, this chilling tale is being brought to the big screen by director Rob Savage and is scheduled to release on 8 May 2026.
‘The Wanted Man’

Hijack creator George Kay is directing this exciting new eight-part drama for Apple TV+ starring Hugh Laurie, Thandiwe Newton, and Spotlight members Fionn Whitehead and Gina McKee.
The Wanted Man centres around ‘Felix Carmichael’ (Laurie), the leader of the UK’s most notorious crime syndicate, The Capital. After a 20 year reign, Carmichael winds up in prison and is led to believe he was betrayed by a member of The Capital.
This dramatic series is currently filming in London throughout June and July, and is set to release on Apple TV+ in 2026.
‘The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power (Season 3)’

The highly anticipated return to Middle Earth is currently filming its third season at Shepperton Studios. Returning cast members include Morfydd Clarke, and Spotlight members Charlie Vickers and Robert Aramayo, and recently announced to be joining them for Season 3 is Spotlight member Jamie Campbell Bower.
The Prime Video series, based on the works of JRR Tolkien, is a prequel series set thousands of years before The Lord of the Rings and follows ‘Galadriel’ as she witnesses the forging of the great rings and the rise of the dark lord, ‘Sauron’.
There’s currently no release date scheduled, however, you can catch up on Seasons 1 and 2 on Prime Video now.
‘Breaking Cover’
Casting by Abbie Hirst and Manuel Puro.
This thrilling drama focuses on a father-daughter relationship that’s pushed to its limits when a routine camping trip takes a turn for the worse.
Spotlight member Scott Adkins plays office worker ‘Will Fisher’, whose true identity gets unearthed when he takes his daughter ‘Tiana’, played by Spotlight member Tiffany Gray, hunting and gets wrapped up in some unlikely business.
Currently filming in various locations around the UK, Breaking Cover is directed by Adrian Bol and is expected to release in September 2026.

- Untitled J.J. Abrams Project – Star Wars director J.J. Abrams’ latest film is currently shooting in Edinburgh, starring Glen Powell, Jenna Ortega and Samuel L. Jackson. Expected to release late 2026.
Casting by Nina Gold and Martin Ware. - The Gentlemen (Season 2) – Guy Ritchie’s Netflix drama series is getting a second season and is currently filming in various locations around the UK.
Casting by Dan Hubbard and Rory Okey. - Criminal Record (Season 2) – Spotlight members Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo co-star in the AppleTV+ crime drama. Currently filming in London, the release date is yet to be announced.
Casting by Nathan Toth and Julie Harkin. - Avengers: Doomsday – The star-studded fifth installment in The Avengers film series, Doomsday is currently shooting in London and Pinewood Studios, and is scheduled to release at Christmas 2026.
Casting by Sarah Finn. - Run Away – The latest Harlan Coben novel to be adapted for the screen is currently filming in Manchester. Run Away stars Spotlight member James Nesbitt and Ruth Jones, and is expected to release in early 2026 on Netflix.
