From the ‘Tomb Raider’ reboot to ‘MobLand’ (Season 2), discover the hottest films and TV shows currently in production across the UK and Ireland this March.
We may only be a couple of months into the year, but we’ve already been gifted with a number of outstanding films and TV shows. From the BBC’s recent adaptation of Lord of the Flies to Emerald Fennel’s steamy big-screen thriller Wuthering Heights, it’s going to take more than the slowly improving weather to tear us away from our screens.
While we’re enjoying all this top-class entertainment, let’s take a look at what future productions are in the works in March 2026.
‘The Housekeeper’

From director Richard Eyre, whose previous work includes The Children Act and Allelujah, The Housekeeper tells the fictionalised tale behind the inspiration for Daphne Du Maurier’s ‘Rebecca’.
Spotlight members Sir Anthony Hopkins and Caitríona Balfe will lead the cast, supported by Helena Bonham Carter and Emma Laird.
Set against a brooding Cornish backdrop, the film will follow ‘Danni’ (Balfe), the housekeeper of Manderville Hall and its widowed owner, Lord DeWithers (Hopkins), as he becomes fascinated by their visitor, the beautiful author Du Maurier (Laird).
Currently filming on location in Cornwall, The Housekeeper doesn’t yet have a release date.
‘The Riders’
Casting director unknown.
Academy Award nominee Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front, Conclave) is back in the director’s chair for this exciting new thriller drama for independent film studio A24.
The Riders tells the story of ‘Fred Scully’, played by Brad Pitt, who follows a trail across Europe with his young daughter after the mysterious disappearance of his wife. Joining Pitt in the cast in undisclosed roles are Spotlight members Julianne Nicholson, Danny Huston and Ulrich Thomsen.
The Riders is currently filming in various locations for the next couple of months around Ireland, including Dublin, Kerry and Cork, before the cast and crew take the production to Greece.
‘Tomb Raider’

Back in January, Amazon released the first image of Game of Thrones star and Spotlight member Sophie Turner with the news that production is underway on this upcoming series for Prime Video.
As well as the exciting news that Turner will be leading the cast in this epic adventure series, it was announced that Phoebe Waller-Bridge – whose previous writing successes include Fleabag and No Time To Die – will be writing and directing. Although the plot is still under wraps, other names in the cast include Spotlight members Jason Isaacs and Celia Imrie and Hollywood legend Sigourney Weaver.
Tomb Raider is currently shooting in London for the next few months and is likely to be released on Prime Video in late 2027.
‘MobLand (Season 2)’

After a record-breaking first season in 2025, showrunner Guy Ritchie is back with his gang of bad guys for season 2 of Prime Video’s MobLand.
The crime drama centres around two rival families – the ‘Harrigans’ and the ‘Stevensons’ – and Spotlight member Tom Hardy’s character Harry Da Souza, who does all he can to prevent a full-blown war between the two. Pierce Brosnan and Spotlight member Helen Mirren star alongside Hardy, as well as Spotlight members Joanne Froggatt, Anson Boon and Paddy Considine.
MobLand (Season 2) is currently filming in East London and Ealing Studios and is scheduled to release at the end of 2026.
‘Seance on a Wet Afternoon’

This upcoming film is currently shooting in various locations around the UK. Starring Spotlight members Rachel Weisz and Matthew Macfadyen, this highly anticipated psychodrama is written by Adolescence creator Jack Thorne and is being directed by Tomas Alfredson, whose previous work includes Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Let the Right One In.
Seance on a Wet Afternoon is based on the 1961 Mark McShane novel of the same name and the previous big screen adaptation from 1964, which starred Richard Attenborough and Kim Stanley.
It tells the story of a medium, ‘Myra’ (Weisz), who convinces her husband. ‘Billy’ (Macfadyan), to take a child hostage in a bid to forward her career and public image as someone who solves the dreadful crime using her psychic abilities. On learning her true desire for the plan, ‘Billy’ tries to stop it from escalating and ruining their lives.
Seance on a Wet Afternoon doesn’t currently have a release date.
‘Highlander’

After learning that he is immortal, Scottish swordsman ‘Russell Nash’ finds himself in a deathly battle against an army of violent warriors as they fight for a coveted ability known as ‘The Prize’.
Highlander is a remake of the original 1986 film of the same name, starring Sean Connery, which was later adapted into a series of novels in 1999 by Garry Kilworth.
This latest retelling of the famous Scottish fantasy adventure will star Henry Cavill and Spotlight members Marisa Abela and Karen Gillan, as well as Jeremy Irons, Dave Bautista and Russell Crowe.
John Wick director Chad Stahelski sits at the helm of this exciting new project, which is currently filming in various locations in Scotland before moving down to London.
Highlander is expected to be released in 2027 by Amazon MGM Studios.
