We look at some of the exciting new films and TV shows filming in the UK and Ireland over the next few months.
Last year was a huge year for film and television with some record-breaking films in the cinema. We saw comic book heroes Deadpool & Wolverine smashing the summer box office and musical masterpiece Wicked Part 1 keeping cinemas full into the new year.
As we step into 2025, let’s look forward to what’s in production and set to release in the year to come.
‘Night & Day’

Virginia Woolf’s Night and Day is getting adapted for the big screen as a UK-German co-production. Told against Edwardian London, the film follows passionate astronomer ‘Katharine Hilbery’ (Haley Bennett) as she does everything she can to avoid love and marriage.
Currently filming in Newcastle and Cologne, the anti-romantic comedy stars Haley Bennett and Lily Allen, who are joined by Spotlight members Timothy Spall, Jennifer Saunders and Jack Whitehall.
‘The Running Man’
This adaptation of the Stephen King novel – and remake of the 1980s Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi classic – is underway with British filmmaker Edgar Wright in the director’s chair. The Running Man tells the story of ‘Ben Richards’ (Glen Powell) as he commits to taking part in a deathly reality TV show in order to win a fortune to save his family in a post-apocalyptic USA.
Currently filming in Glasgow and London, the film also stars Josh Brolin, Emilia Jones, William H. Macy and Michael Cera.
The Running Man will be in cinemas in November 2025.
‘The Associate’ [Working title]

Previously known as The Donovans, this series with a working title of The Associate is being directed by Guy Ritchie. Loosely based on the series Ray Donovan, The Associate is a 10-part crime drama about two warring families and a ‘fixer’ tasked with protecting one of the families.
Heading up the cast are Spotlight members Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, and filming is taking place in London and at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden.
The series is scheduled to be released on Paramount+ in 2025.
‘Silo’ Season 3 and Season 4

Apple TV+’s Silo has been given the greenlight for a third and fourth season. The two seasons mark the conclusion of the sci-drama and filming of all episodes is currently taking place at Hoddeston Studios in Hertfordshire and at OMA One and OMA X Film Studios in Enfield.
The dystopian tale stars Rebecca Ferguson as ‘Juliette Nichols’, one of the inhabitants of the silo – an underground home which houses survivors of the dangerous surface world.
‘500 Miles’

500 Miles is a road trip film adapted for screen by Malcolm Campbell and is based on the novel ‘Charlie and Me’ by Mark Lowery. Spotlight members Dexter Sol Ansell and Roman Griffin Davis star as two runaway brothers who journey over land and sea to find their estranged grandfather on Ireland’s West Coast.
Joining the cast are Spotlight members Bill Nighy, Maisie Williams, Michael Socha and Clare Dunne. The production is currently filming in Dublin and Wicklow and various other locations in Ireland through to the new year and is directed by Morgan Matthews.
‘Fackham Hall’

This upcoming British period drama-comedy stars Spotlight members Tom Felton, Damian Lewis, Ben Radcliffe, as well as Thomasin McKenzie and Katherine Waterstone.
Filming in Wirral, Leeds and Liverpool, the film follows cheeky pickpocket ‘Eric Noone’ (Radcliffe) as he moves into Fackham Hall, a classy English manor house where he meets and falls for ‘Rose Davenport’ (McKenzie). A love triangle, a family rivalry and a suspicious murder all take place in this period drama spoof, directed by Jim O’Hanlan and written by comedian Jimmy Carr.
‘Borges and Me’

Marc Turtletaub is directing Borges and Me, the heartfelt adaptation of Jay Parini’s memoir of the same name. The film follows a young Parini, who finds himself on a road trip with renowned blind Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges through the Scottish Highlands.
Starring Alan Cumming and Spotlight member Fionn Whitehead, Borges and Me is currently filming in various locations around Scotland including St Andrews.
